MTC letter #1

Dear Family,

AAAHHHHHH!!!    I feel like Kel in Protector of the Small, there is not enough time for anything.  No time for reading letters, writing or go over orientation stuff.  Everyone says you’ll be fine if you make it to Sunday, here’s hoping.
I start my mission in a trio.  Sis. Young is a 26 yr old four year convert to the church and a total dear, she is so positive, kind and speaks harmony.  Sis Hayes is a 22 yr old genius she already speaks Japanese and has spent the first day correcting Sis. Young and mines Vietnamese, perhaps Kaia’s will always be in my life, but I have faith all things will help me learn and grow.
Learning Vietnamese already has me terrified, for the hour in the classroom yesterday I spent the time with my mouth gaping open having the teachers telling me to keep smiling, in Vietnamese of course.
Ran out of time...day 2.  I still feel like there is way too much to do and never any time to accomplish it, but if Amy Pond can soldier on so can I.
The language learning is still scary but between my teachers mild hand gestures and the Spirit I think I’m getting the gist of it.
I was amazed by the Spirit in Branch Meeting tonight.  Each missionary has brought a story and a testimony I know that this is so far for me to go and so much to learn, but I’m thankful for the strength of the Spirit uplifting me.  Tonight it was brought home to my heart that no matter how overwhelmed I feel I need and am supposed to be here for this time.  The Lord needs me, He has a work for me to do and a work in my heart to accomplish.  I’m thankful for my five member district, for the things I’m learning and though Senior companion isn’t a big deal, I’m still overwhelmed that I, the youngest in our trio, was the first in our time here to be asked to do it.

Keep praying for me as I pray for you,
your loving daughter & family member
                                                                               Alison Fabricius

P.S. Please give Chris an update from this.  Text or Facebook him that I finally got my Japanese encephalitis shot:)
